Remuneration

:

The remuneration will be approx. 6.00 – 7.00 lakh per annum

Educational Qualifications and Attributes

 

:

·      Bachelor’s degree in  Technology and Engineering with 4-5 years of industrial experience in additive engineering machine operations or a similar role in research and development

·      Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

·      Proficient in 3D CAD package (Magics, SolidWorks preferred, ProE/Creo, NX, etc)

·      Experienced with independent operation of metal LBPF machines

·      Experience in other 3D printing technologies like SLS, DMLS, Composite 3D Printer is an added advantage

·      Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot machine errors, and other related issues

·      Effective communication skills with cross-functional teams, technicians, and other stakeholders

 

Sr. Process Engineer – Additive Manufacturing Responsibilities

 

:

  • Focus on developing 3D printing parameters for LBPF Metal AM machine
  • Designing and implementing optimal process parameters for different metal powders and part geometries, considering factors like laser power, scan speed, layer thickness, and hatch pattern
  • Conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) to identify the most efficient process settings for specific applications
  • Optimizing build orientation and support structures for optimal part quality and minimal post-processing needs
  • Selecting appropriate metal powders based on desired mechanical properties and application requirements
  • Managing powder inventory, including handling and storage procedures to maintain powder quality
  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues related to powder flow and bed levelling 
  • Focus on developing and scaling up novel printing manufacturing techniques
  • Design and execute experimental plans and generate related reports
  • Contribute to process validations and integrate processes in production pilot line
  • Establish quality control specifications for the processes and materials
  • Analyse and characterize existing processes, implementing necessary controls for critical parameters, and enhancing the stability and resilience of the processes
  • Attend and support regular project meetings, present and provide summary reports
  • Experience of installation commissioning and setting up PBPF, DMLS, SLS machines
  • Effective communication with suppliers for various labs needs
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Follow all safety procedures, including handling hazardous chemicals and company policies and procedures
  • Able to provide solutions related to customer needs for smooth customer relationships
  • Manage and maintain prototype requests by ensuring timing and priorities are clearly communicated to the customer
  • Perform calibration, verification, and testing of 3D printing equipment to ensure 3D printers are operating efficiently
  • Manage the troubleshooting and repair of equipment if required
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and improvement in 3D printing process, equipment performance, and calibration procedures
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the process
  • Crosstrain other employees on post processing finishing work related to 3D printing
  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing processes like Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) or Directed Energy Deposition (DED) 
  • Proficiency in CAD software and slicing software for AM 
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties 
  • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and statistical methods 
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with design engineers, quality inspectors, and production teams 

 

Required Skills/Experience

:

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with different additive manufacturing techniques such as powder bed fusion, binder jetting etc.
  • Interest in advanced technology and an ongoing desire to learn with an R&D attitude.
  • Demonstrated hands-on lab work skills, including chemical, powder, and slurry handling, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in working with powder formulation, processing, and characterization.
  • Must be able to take ownership, initiative, analytical, and thorough.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.

Physical Requirements

 

:

  • Ability to communicate in real-time with co-workers
  • Ability to navigate a lab environment
  • This is a largely sedentary position, with the majority of work is done either in a lab, face-to-face meetings, or on computers
  • Travel frequency will be incidental

Internships

NCAM is rapidly expanding its capabilities in Skilling, R&D and Innovation and Start-up Incubation. The Additive Manufacturing Intern will be a part of the team and assist in the activities for the above 3 verticals. The intern will be a part of the NCAM team at Osmania University for three months. Work will consist of assisting the team with Technology Documentation, R & D activities, undergo Scheduled training and projects on AM.

In addition to learning alongside professional designers, engineers, and material experts, the intern will get exposure to national and international partnerships, programs and best practices in technologies, design materials, and software in Additive Manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Support the vision, mission and objectives of the company as per the DPR and administrative approval.
  • Support in conducting 3D printing incubation program, training and skill development programs, events and conferences of NCAM.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional project teams across business verticals of Skilling, Incubation and Industry Programs.
  • Prepare documents and reports as per requirements to capture data on the various initiatives of NCAM.
  • Reports to the Technical cum Industry Officer and Manager Skilling
  • Carries out any other duties as assigned by the Manager – Skilling and & Start up Incubation .
  • Carries out ISO, TQM, AS 9100 documentations for NCAM
  • Assisting for setting up of AM facility with various documentation as well as physical operation

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing or completed Diploma/Engineering in Mechanical /Automobile /Aerospace or relevant field
  • Good written communication skills in English.
  • Overall knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and secondary processes.
  • Ability to multitask and work in multi-cultural and multi-competency environment.
  • Strong autonomy, time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Skilled in using MS Office suite, Google Workspace, online meeting apps like Teams, Google Meet and Zoom
  • Prior internship experience or experience in organising events, conference and seminars is desirable.
